Breakfast of Champions

In 1921, Wheaties cereal was created by accident when a drop of batter was spilled on a stove and turned into a wheat flake. In the 1930s, testimonials from athletic greats like Lou Gehrig and players on the 1939 Major League All-Star team turned the modest wheat flake into something of a legend. In the late 1950s, Wheaties began its first of several sponsorship deals with athletic legends, who would appear on the iconic box. Bob Richards was the first spokesperson, succeeded by Bruce Jenner, Mary Lou Retton, Walter Payton, Chris Evert, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Dale Earnhardt, Brett Favre, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Michael Phelps, Mia Hamm, Muhammad Ali and more. Today, this nearly 100-year-old cereal brand is one of the most iconic names in sports and its name is synonymous with excellence both on and off the field, court, track, pool and beyond.

The Breakfast of Champions has fueled the endeavors of modern athletes from Michael Phelps to Serena Williams. With its legacy and iconic orange box, Wheaties is on a mission to inspire and empower future Champions and give athletes a platform for sharing their passion with the world.
