With so many different watch designs available, it's important to be aware that certain timepieces require specific care. It will last longer if you are aware of your model's specific maintenance requirements.
Automatic watches must be wound on occasion to guarantee top performance; however, quartz watches do not require daily winding. Whether or not you need to wind your watch, it has to be cleaned frequently to prevent lint and grime from fading the finish. An effective way to keep dirt at bay is to clean it using a soft, damp cloth. Take it to a local jeweler for expert cleaning to reduce water damage. For mechanical timepieces, this maintenance is advised every two to three years, and for quartz movements, every three to four years.
